Who We Are

Kairak Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (KCfSRD)

The Kairak Centre for Sustainable Rural Development (KCfSRD) hosts the Integrated Agriculture Training Program (IATP) and associated Rural Development Programs under the Papua New Guinea University of National Resources & Environment (PNG-UNRE)

KCfSRD’s purpose through the IATP is to Provide Agricultural Services as an Income Generating Activity towards empowerment and sustainability that makes a measurable difference to rural live-lihoods.

What is our Objective and Purpose?

Objective

“To improve the livelihoods of smallholder men, women & youth farmers by increasing earnings and household food security”

Purpose

“To provide regular, field-based training and information services that focuses on overcoming or reducing farmer defined problems and constraints in order to promote sustainable livelihoods”

The IATP therefore:

  • Improves smallholder and subsistence farmer productivity that helps increase household income, increase food security and alleviate poverty.
  • Enhances farmers ability to independently make decisions in the wise use and allocation of resources to sustain their livelihoods
