Build a future in animal science through practical learning, sustainable livestock systems, and industry-focused training at UNRE.
The Department of Animal Science offers a four-year degree program leading to a Bachelor in Sustainable Livestock Production (BSLP). The program combines the science and art of raising domesticated animals for human consumption and provides a strong foundation in biological, behavioural, physical, and environmental sciences.
The program is designed to prepare graduates for modern livestock systems with practical and interdisciplinary training.
The BSLP program offers four strands.
Focus on animal health, disease control, management systems, and biosecurity.
Study feed systems, feed formulation, nutrition science, and livestock feeding strategies.
Develop skills in ruminant and monogastric production, dairy, and integrated farming systems.
Build expertise in breeding systems, genetics, genetic diversity, and biotechnology applications.
